Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent course I knew nothing about using my iPhone for photography. I just pressed the button and that was it. Since I took this course, I got enthusiastic about it, and I take pictures daily. I have learned about several features, but the ones I benefit from the most are the use of apps that allow me to modify my pictures in creative ways. Occasionally the instructions were difficult to follow, but in general they were clear. The lecturer often gave us homework allowing for experimenting on our own. Although the examples mostly used the iPhone, other digital phones are also covered. I strongly recommend this course.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great primer Sure, I took photos with my smartphone before I watched this course; but those were merely snapping photos. I had no idea how to use my smartphone the way I professional photographer would; and my thoughts on improving my photos was simply get a phone with a better camera. This course taught me techniques and thought processes to improve my photos. Most importantly, it taught how a smartphone camera works. My photos taken with my smartphone improved both during the course and after the course.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Illuminating photography course I'm a retired photojournalist and former picture editor, and I purchased this course for the sake of learning to become a more skillful iPhone photographer. Certain classes expanded my knowledge of that, while others served as a beneficial review of what I already know about the art of photography. Therefore, I would recommend this course to both newbies and to more advanced amateurs or even professionals who wish to optimize their use of cellphone cameras. Incidentally, Jared Platt is an excellent instructor, very knowledgeable, and personable! My only suggestion for improving the presentation would be a request for more signage regarding certain actions taken on the phone -- a graphic display (arrow or circle) of what button or icon or title to push for various functions of the phone, etc. Rather than just verbalizing those directions. For that reason, I sometimes had to stop the video and rewind, while stumbling to find an item on my phone. Overall, the course was worth far beyond what it cost me -- That'd be the case even if I had profited from only half the classes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Teacher I've never taken a photography class because I couldn't find one that focuses on using my smartphone. I was so excited to see that Jared's class uses smartphones, but even more pleased when I understood his teaching style. He makes incredible complex concepts, like composition, easier by breaking it down into smaller chunks of information, annotating directly on the photos he's using, and providing several examples of photos that illustrate what he's discussing or what makes a photo good vs great. He's also calm, methodical, and an exceptionally gifted photographer. I LOVE this class!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent lectures but... ...the guidebook provided needs a lot more detail; its only a one pager.
