Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Lecturer and Parental Wisdom Excellent wisdom from a tenured mother of 10! Donna Baer is very passionate and smooth in her delivery and makes each lecture a pleasure. Each segment provides significant insights in forming a lifelong learner and lover of life, and her discussion of using the Great Courses Lectures to aid in child development is exactly as I did with great success. It also worked for myself as I used my car as a mobile classroom. I have purchased nearly 500 lecture sets and cannot imagine a day without them in making my life and family enriched. Wonderful course and Lecturer!!! I highly recommend it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from All anecdotal. How can I trust this information? I really really wanted to like this course because I really would love my son to be a lifelong learner. But the entire course seems to be based entirely on anecdotal evidence and pieces of folk wisdom. There's a lot of phrases like "in my experience" and I would have liked to see that the data is backed up by factual science or studies because one person's experience may not be transferrable to another. The advice sounds great, and the presenter speaks very well, but I have no idea if I can trust it. There's no credibility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Changed the Culture Of My Family Without the content in this course our family would not be the same! We love to read and learn together (we homeschool with a co-op) and I can directly attribute that to the efforts of this excellent teacher! 100% would recommend!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy Audio, Not Video Another lecture series in which one is watching a presenter read. While the subject matter is important, it is impossible to get away from you are watching someone read - a Video Audiobook... with all the excitement that that business model presents. Of course, all presenters read from a script or a teleprompter, but now it is all read and no engagement. Simply compare lectures from a couple years ago and now and one can see a world of difference. In this new Great Courses-Wondrium-Whatever they now call themselves, The presenter need not to be a 'Great' professor. The presenter need not be a professor nor have written the course material. The core model that Great Courses-Wondrium-Whatever has adopted is placing someone (anyone) down in front of a 2D blue screen background and we can watch the presenter read. Yes, it is that exciting !!
