About Eren Tasar

Eren Tasar is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his PhD in History from Harvard University. He has published widely on Islam and atheism in Soviet Central Asia in journals such as Cahiers du monde russe and the Journal of the Economic and Social History of the Orient. He is also the author of the book Soviet and Muslim: The Institutionalization of Islam in Central Asia.
